Gifting Name Plate with light
In this post of our story-based blog series, we see a story of a couple welcomes their new neighbour by gifting them in spite of the lockdown.
Right before the COVID-19 had hit the Indian subcontinent, a new family moved to the apartment next to ours. We had invited them for some evening snacks some weeks later, and they told us how excited they are about shifting in a new city.
They were chai enthusiasts just like my family, and we had kinda bonded in just some weeks. We had only a few such meetings with them, and they told us that they had planned on throwing a house warming party in some months, and they invited us with such warm greetings. We had helped them in moving in ultimately, and also something about the city.
Just when we had planned a good dinner outing for them, India was in lockdown.
Because of social distancing, we never went out for any type of plan; neither did we meet them that often. It was like all the houses were isolated in their homes, and slowly the spirit of the summer was taken away.
We would still have chais sitting in our own balconies. That evening time was somewhat stabilizing, we would talk about the news, the number of cases rising, and everything else. They told us that they had planned not only the housewarming for the building members but also their work colleagues. They still had some things that were now mid-way stuck due to the country lockdown. And, most importantly, their nameplate was yet not made by some local shop.
That’s when we decided on what we would gift them for their housewarming — a designer name plate. I quickly placed the order and kept the delivery address as theirs. We decided to just surprise them… because who doesn’t love surprises? I was a little worried about the delivery delay, to be honest. Because since a bit of their furniture was stuck midway as well.
But Zoci Voci delivered the products safely and soundly in the estimated time, as soon as the travel restrictions were lifted after the lockdown.
They were so taken aback, they just came in the balcony and called us out. We were so happy looking at them, surprised and happy as well. It was a sweet gift for sure.
They immediately hung the nameplate on their door and sent us the photos on WhatsApp, and profusely thanked us. This was the happiest and joyous day that we had seen during the lockdown.
